In my mind’s eye, I see them sitting there, and Meryl is getting way too quiet and in her thoughts (probably wondering how she was going to convince the cities that Vash isn’t who they think he is) and Vash, ever the one ready to remove the worries of others and putting it on himself, takes it upon himself to pull her thoughts back and try to make her laugh.
